Top 10 Bass Guitar Songs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Let us try to get a best bass guitar songs list among the hundreds of wonderful songs that we have heard over the years. The list though not inclusive of all the legends is an attempt at listing out a top 10 bass guitar songs. The number ten songs on the list is Break on Through by the Doors and it is quite a wonderful way that bass is used in this song that makes it such a hot favorite. Higher up on the list at number nine is Boris the Spider by The Who.

At number eight we have Whipping Post by Allman Brothers band and at number seven we have Roundabout by Yes. Dazed and Confused by Led Zeppelin is at number six and at number five we have The Real Me by The Who. Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple is at number four and at three we have Another One Bite the Dust by Queen.

At number two we have My Generation by The Who and the topmost position is occupied by Money by Pink Floyd. There could be a number of people who could be annoyed that the list does not include the legends of bass guitar like Beatles, Eagles, Dire Straits, Black Sabbath, Taylor Swift, Guns N Roses, Eric Clapton, Metallica and many more wonderful, talented and gifted legends who had made the bass guitar a magical instrument.

The list as stated earlier is not a complete list and there are bound to be arguments and counter arguments about the validity of an inclusion. The list is just a starting point where beginners or novices in guitar playing can listen to and learn the wonderful skills from the legends who have strummed the guitars to perfection to bring out the best music that we had all loved and cherished.

Along with the list of top 10 bass guitar songs we must also have a list of top 10 bass players who have immortalized this humble instrument into a great piece of art. This list would again not be a complete list but just an attempt to identify the legends of guitar who have given us such wonderful music. Paul McCartney from the former Beatles was considered a legend that used to play the bass to perfection and most people thought that his fingers were magical when they touched the guitar and some of the most memorable bass guitar songs have come from this great man. Others on the list would include Pino Palladino, Flea, Jaco Pastorius, Mark King, Tony Levin, Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Charlie Haden and John Paul Jones.

Best Weight Lifting Songs of All Times

Image : http://www.flickr.com

You go into the gym and find yourself without the usual desire to do your exercises. What’s the best way to get into the workout mood? Music.

The right music can make your workout that more effective. To help you do that I compiled a short list of some of the best weight lifting songs:

1. Welcome to the Jungle by Guns ‘n’ Roses – I still remember when this came out. It totally blew me away. This is a fast paced, energy filled, rock song which is sure to get you pumping and eager to lift some weights. Axel Rose’s vocals on this song are fantastic.

2. Enter Sandman by Metallica – I love this band, although in recent years they seem to have mellowed somewhat. However, this nightmarish song is the remedy for any fatigue. It is so powerful and will make you feel powerful too. Exit light, enter weights, I say.

3. Jump by Van Halen – This song is something between rock and pop. The title says it all, get ready to feel like jumping or, better yet, pumping iron like crazy. This sone is so catchy and fast that it will have you feeling like you can lift a mountain.

4. Smells like Team Spirit by Nirvana – recently, Paul Anka released a mellow version of this song which is kind of cool, but if you’re looking for the best weight lifting songs to help you workout more, stick to the original version. The music and vocals are so powerful here, you just feel like you’re an entire team of athletes yourself.

5. Into the Storm by Blind Guardian – This song is part of the classic album by this heavy metal German band which is inspired by the Lord of the Rings trilogy. This is the most heavy metal song on the list but I’ve used it several times both as a running song and a strength training song. Try it out and you’ll see.

Make sure these 5 songs are on your playlist before you go into any gym.

Great 80’s Hits – The Albums

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Here we go again. Another trip to the yester-decade of the 80’s. What to choose and where to start? There were so many great 80’s music albums that it would be next to impossible to name them all. But, you will have to agree that those I will mention will be in the top favorites of anyone’s list. Most rock, a few pop, and maybe a great 80’s music soundtrack thrown in for good measure. Let’s get started.

First on the list is from the Red Rocker himself, Sammy Hagar. His contributions in the 80’s were far and wide. It seemed as though he could just wake up and crank out a mega 80’s music hit album. My personal favorite from him is Standing Hampton. Heavy Metal, I’ll Fall In Love Again, There’s Only One Way To Rock, and my favorite song from this one, Can’t Get Loose. Three Lock Box and VOA are a couple of more 80’s albums from this powerhouse. An awesome singer, and a great guitar player as well. What more could you ask for?

Next up on this list is Guns-N-Roses. Who could ever forget thier first hit album Appetite For Destruction? Mr. Brownstone, Paradise City, Sweet Child O’ Mine, and my favorite from this one, Welcome To The Jungle. Axl Rose, Duff, and Slash knew exactly what I was craving when this one came out. The louder this album is played, the better it sounds. Is there ever a thing as too much volume? Rap music, yes. 80’s classic music rock, no!!

Let’s reminisce now with the classic 80’s album from Metallica. …And Justice For All is perhaps the loudest, hardest rocking album of the big 80’s. To Live Is to Die, and Blackened are classics in themselves. But then comes along the big daddy of them all, One. Beautiful, slow, heart wrenching in the beginning, and then, BAM! grabs you by the throat and kicks your tail to the very end. By far my favorite Metallica song to date.

Motley Crue was another favorite band in the 80’s and cannot be left out. Dr. Feelgood was the flagship for them with hits like Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away), Kickstart My Heart, and Without You. A great blend of hard rock, ballads, and just feel good music all together. What a 80’s music hit album should be. Does anyone remember Tommy Lee spinning while playing the drums? I know we all did.

We have to throw a couple of pop albums in here to complete the package. One of the better pop artists to come out of the 80’s was Cyndi Lauper. Her biggest album was called She’s So Unusual. That she was! But that’s what attracted me to her music. I like to go off the beaten path, and Cyndi got me there. Not to mention that she was and still is an incredible artist. The haunting Time After Time, Money Changes Everything, and her signature Girl’s Just Want To Have Fun cemented her into America’s heart. Not to mention the videos with all the wrestling greats. Did Cyndi know something we didn’t?

Heart was another band that enjoyed mega stardom. Ann and Nancy Wilson are two of the hottest singers that ever graced a stage. I actually had a personal conversation with Ann Wilson. I yelled at the top of my lungs – Hello!! at one of their concerts and she said Hello! back. Okay, okay, I gotta get my fifteen minutes of fame somewhere! But back to the grat 80’s music hit albums. Heart – and their self titled album. What About Love, Nothin’ At All, and Nancy at the height of her game with These Dreams. A classic 80’s hit album at the top of the list.

How ’bout a classic 80’s hit movie soundtrack now? Let’s look at the often over-looked movie soundtrack Valley Girl. Don’t laugh, it was a pretty good album in itself. Love My Way by the Psychedelic Furs, Who Can It Be Now by Men At Work, and the one hit wonder I Melt With You by Modern English. Not too hip on the movie, but I really like the new wave soundtrack.

So here we are at the conclusion of another 80’s music hits fun-fest. I hope this sparked even more 80’s memories within you and will keep them alive. Keep it loud, keep it proud and as always, Rock On!
